Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of PT Modernland Realty Tbk., represented by its business unit ModernCikande Industrial Estate (MCIE), once again showed concern for others. This was realized through the provision of assistance to the victims of the tsunami disaster that had just occurred in the Sunda Strait. The CSR team of PT Modernland Realty Tbk. immediately moved to the residential areas of the disaster evacuees. The tsunami that occurred in the Sunda Strait caused hundreds of deaths and left thousands injured. Many of the disaster victims lost their homes, forcing them to move to evacuation tents and survive amid all the limitations they faced.
Social assistance from PT Modernland Realty Tbk. was distributed in coordination with several parties, including the PMI Post of Serang Regency, the BPBD Post of Serang Regency, the Logistics Assistance Center of the Banten Provincial Government, and the Disaster Post of Banten Regional Police. The assistance provided to the tsunami victims consisted of basic necessities, including bottled drinking water, rice, instant noodles, instant porridge, Energen, UHT milk, biscuits, sanitary pads, blankets, eucalyptus oil, and proper used clothing, all of which were urgently needed at the time. “The distribution of aid at several evacuation points has been carried out on the fifth day since the tsunami struck,” said Danial Soemawinata, HR & GS Dept. Head of ModernCikande Industrial Estate, according to a written statement in Banten (27/12/2018).
The latest information regarding areas affected by the tsunami in the Sunda Strait covers 5 regencies, namely Pandeglang, Serang, South Lampung, Tanggamus, and Pesawaran. However, the coastal area in Pandeglang Regency was the area with the highest number of victims and the most severe damage compared to the other regions.
