Governor Pramono Anung Inaugurates Jakarta Garden City Mosque, a Worship Facility in the Heart of a Modern Residential Area

Jakarta, May 4, 2025 – Jakarta Governor Dr. Ir. Pramono Anung Wibowo, M.M. inaugurated the Jakarta Garden City Mosque, which forms part of the social and worship facilities within the rapidly developing Jakarta Garden City township in Cakung, East Jakarta, on Saturday morning (4/5). The event, which began at dawn, was attended by residents, religious leaders, and representatives of the local government.

The inauguration of the mosque, which can accommodate hundreds of worshippers, began with a joint dzikir, congregational dawn prayer, rawi recitation, and a religious sermon delivered by a representative of PWNU Jakarta.

In his remarks, Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that the presence of the Jakarta Garden City Mosque in the middle of a modern residential area reflects the synergy between physical and spiritual development.

“A mosque is a center for moral development and togetherness among the people. The government welcomes the initiative of the community and the developer in establishing a representative house of worship like this,” said Pramono Anung Wibowo after signing the mosque’s inauguration plaque.

The President Director of PT Mitra Sindo Sukses, Kelvin O. Lesmana, stated that the construction of the Jakarta Garden City Mosque is part of the company’s commitment to providing holistic public facilities. “As a subsidiary of PT Modernland Realty Tbk., we believe that ideal area development must include spiritual and social dimensions. This mosque is a tangible manifestation of that principle,” said Kelvin O. Lesmana.

Meanwhile, the Township Management Head of Jakarta Garden City, Yandi Ramayadi, added that the Jakarta Garden City Mosque would not only serve as a place of worship for Muslim residents in the Jakarta Garden City area, but would also be used for social activities, religious education, and community gatherings. “The Jakarta Garden City Mosque can become a communal space that functions as a place for residents of Jakarta Garden City to gather and socialize,” said Yandi Ramayadi. After the inauguration, the event was closed with a social gathering and breakfast on the mosque’s second floor.

A Symbol of Architecture and Spirituality

The Jakarta Garden City Mosque stands in the middle of a continuously growing residential area. Its building is striking, with a symmetrical design, an emerald green dome at the center of the roof, and large windows that allow natural lighting. White pillars support the two-story structure, creating an impression of strength while maintaining elegance.

Middle Eastern touches can be seen in the geometric patterns on the façade, yet the building does not lose its friendly and open local identity. The green landscape surrounding the mosque also adds harmony, making it not merely a place of worship, but also a unifying public space.

With a capacity for hundreds of worshippers and a multipurpose room for community activities, the JGC Mosque is expected to become a dynamic spiritual center for all residents of the Jakarta Garden City area.
