Developing Halal Industrial Area, Modernland Realty's CEO Meets Minister of Industry Airlangga

Jakarta, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto received a visit from the Commissioner of PT Modernland Realty Tbk, Luntungan Honoris, at the Ministry of Industry office in Jakarta, some time ago.

During the visit, Luntungan reported plans to develop a halal industrial area in the Cikande region, said Minister Airlangga.

He added that the industrial area, which will be built on 500 hectares of land, will be equipped with testing, certification, and logistics facilities for halal products.

With the establishment of this halal industrial area, the Ministry of Industry will soon issue standards related to halal industrial areas, he emphasized.

Meanwhile, I Gusti Putu Surywirawan, Director General of Industrial Resilience and International Industrial Access Development (KPAII) at the Ministry of Industry, stated that the standards have not been established yet because there has been no development of halal industrial areas.

To become a halal industrial area, there must be standards. We cannot let it develop without standards. Later, anyone could claim, and control would be difficult, said Putu.

In establishing these standards, the Ministry of Industry will use guidelines from other countries that already have halal industrial hubs, such as Malaysia, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.

According to him, the development project of the Modern Halal Valley will be divided into three phases. The first phase will cover 150 hectares with an investment value of IDR 500 billion.

This cluster is expected to be launched in the second semester of 2018 and is projected to accommodate several industries, such as food and beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, clothing, and others.
